Losing Mealime? Here's a warm place for your family to land.
Mealime closes on 21 October 2026. If you've been planning family dinners with it, we know how much of a routine that is. Bite Club is a family meal planner for iPhone and iPad, made by a real (and fussy) UK family, where everyone in the house gets a say.
Download Bite Club on the App StoreOr search "Bite Club Family Meal Planner" on the App Store.
First, what's happening with Mealime
Mealime's owner, Albertsons Companies, is closing the Mealime app on 21 October 2026 and moving its recipes into Meals Hub, which lives inside Albertsons Companies grocery apps and websites. According to Mealime's closing notice:
- All Mealime recipes continue in Meals Hub, free.
- Pro subscribers won't be charged again before the closure.
- All personal data will be deleted when the Mealime app shuts down.
- Some preferences and settings need setting up again in Meals Hub.
Mealime doesn't offer a bulk export. If there are meals you cook every week, save them before the 21st (see below).

Save your favourites before 21 October (whatever app you choose next)
- Recipes you love: open each one in Mealime, tap Share and copy the link, or print the recipe to PDF.
- Your plan and shopping list: take a screenshot of the current week.
- Your family's "greatest hits": jot down the 10 meals you actually cook on repeat. They matter most.
You can also ask Mealime for a copy of your personal data via its privacy policy, but it may not arrive before the closure, and it won't be in a format other apps can import.
Why families switch
Why families are trying Bite Club
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ Everyone joins the Club
Create your household's Club, pick avatars and share a code so everyone can join from their own phone.
๐ Tastes for every person
Each person sets their Food Vibes, their loves and dislikes. One of you won't touch mushrooms? Another would eat pasta every night? Bite Club knows.
๐ฏ Meals scored for your household
Browse over 3,000 meals, each with a Club Score: a percentage match against your family's tastes. Less guessing, more "yes, let's have that".
๐ Suggest it. Vote on it.
Spot something tasty? Suggest it to the Club. Everyone gets a notification to give it a thumbs up or down. Dinner stops being one person's job.
๐ Your household classics
Add your House Meals, the dishes you already cook and love (Gran's lasagne, your Tuesday stir-fry), and drop them into any week.
๐ Plan the week, grab the list
Generate a weekly plan that mixes House Meals with new ideas, then tweak it. Planning a takeaway, delivery or eating-out night is fine too. Then grab the shopping list.
๐ง Kids get their own bit
Kids Mode and the Food Passport help younger ones discover new foods without the fuss.
๐ค Bite Bot for the brain fart
Ask Bite Bot, our AI sidekick, for "something quick with chicken" or "five meals we'll all like". Bite Bot is an optional subscription with a 1-month free trial.

If you mainly cooked for one or want detailed nutrition tracking, another app may suit you better, and that's fine. If you plan dinners for a family with opinions, give Bite Club a try.
What Bite Club deliberately doesn't do
We're honest about what Bite Club is and isn't. Here's what we don't offer:
- No recipe import. You can't import recipes from Mealime, other apps, or web links. House Meals are entered manually.
- No Android or web app. Bite Club is iPhone and iPad only (iOS 18+).
- No grocery delivery integrations. We don't connect to Walmart, Instacart, or Amazon for cart building.
- No calorie counting or detailed nutrition tracking. Bite Club focuses on family taste matching and meal planning, not macro counting.
If those features are deal-breakers, that's fine. Bite Club is laser-focused on solving "what's for dinner?" for families, not everything for everyone.
Get set up in 5 minutes
- Download Bite Club and create your Club.
- Add your family and everyone's likes and dislikes (or share the code so they add their own).
- Add your top House Meals: start with the 5โ10 you saved from Mealime.
- Plan the week: generate a plan, swap anything you fancy, and grab your shopping list.
Made by a family, for families
Bite Club was built by Ben, an indie app developer, and his family, after one too many "what's for dinner?" stand-offs. It was battle-tested in a real, fussy household. We're a tiny UK team, and we read every bit of feedback (there's a Feedback button in Settings).
Solve "what's for dinner?" together.
Get everyone in the Club. Invite, vote, cook. Tasty.

FAQ
When does Mealime shut down?
Mealime says it will be discontinued on 21 October 2026. Its recipes are moving to Meals Hub inside Albertsons Companies grocery apps.
Can I import my Mealime recipes into Bite Club?
Not automatically. Mealime doesn't offer an export, and Bite Club doesn't import from other apps yet. You can add the meals you love as House Meals by hand. We'd suggest starting with your top 10.

Bite Club is free to download. Bite Bot, the optional AI sidekick, is a monthly subscription with a 1-month free trial.
Is Bite Club on Android?
No. Bite Club is iPhone and iPad only (iOS 18 or later).
Does Bite Club make a shopping list?
Yes. Build your week from favourites, new finds, House Meals and takeaway nights, and Bite Club makes a shopping list for it.

Is it good for picky eaters?
That's the whole point. Everyone sets their own likes and dislikes, meals get a Club Score for the whole household, and kids can vote too.

Yes. Share your Club code and everyone joins from their own iPhone or iPad.
Do you work with Mealime or Albertsons?
